About
Hesk once kept the books of the great library under the Crown. Thirty years ago the Chantry caught him reading what he should not, and burned out his eyes. Since then he has lived in a dry room above the black water of a cellar on Brine Lane, guarding some sixty pages of the Makers that he smuggled out in his coat lining.
He is dry, gentle and mischievous, and he answers almost every question with another one. His Three Questions shape everything Teo does: What do you see? What would be true if you were wrong? How would you know?
